Kolkata: Director Anik Dutta is ready with his third film which is all set to release this month. Titled Meghnadbadh Rahasya, the latest from Dutta is a whodunit that incorporates some cues from Meghnadbadh Kabya by Michael Madhusudan Dutt.
“But that doesn’t mean you have to read Meghnadbadh Kabya before coming to the theatres,” said Dutta in an interactive session with the media today.
Abir Chatterjee, Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Gargee Roychowdhury, and Kalyan Roy play key roles in the film.
The film is in the classical whodunit format with an Agatha Christie-style climax.
Singer Shamik Sinha plays the role of a police officer in the film. Music for the film has been scored by Debojyoti Mishra.
Roy suggested that it’s time now to bring Premendra Mitra stories on screen. Dutta said he will be more than happy to it provided a producer is ready to invest, as Mitra’s stories cut across multiple locations and involves sets that are expensive to make for a regional film.
