OOP Digital Desk: Khichdi, an amalgamation of lentils, rice, and spices, is all set to become India’s national food.
One of the commonest foods in the country that is cooked in almost every home, the khichdi will be unveiled as the Indian super food at World Food India, the biggest ever international food show in the country to be held at New Delhi from 3-5 November.
Top chefs from the country will come together and cook a pot of the food weighing 800kg. Organisers of the event plan to enter Guiness World Records for cooking the biggest khichdi ever.
It has been learnt that the food processing ministry suggested khichdi as the Indian representative cuisine for the show. The minister of food processing Harsmirat Kaur Badal, said that khichdi is enjoyed by all, whether rich or poor. It is delicious to eat, healthy, and very economical to make. The food requires only a few ingredients that are easily available at any grocery store. The Centre okayed Badal’s proposal.
Over 450 domestic and 200 international companies will be a part of World Food India. Germany, Denmark, and Japan are the partner countries.
