OOP Digital Desk: In perhaps the first ever for a Bengali film, Amazon Obhijaan is all set to be released countrywide in multiple languages including English, this Chirstmas. If the teaser that was released today is anything to go by, the film promises to be of Hollywood standards and could well be the benchmark for other regional films to follow.
The film stars Dev as adventurer and bounty hunter Shankar, along with David James and Svetlana Gulakova in major roles. Amazon Obhijaan, directed by Kamaleshwar Mukherjee, is a sequel to his 2013 film Chander Pahar.
The film has been almost entirely shot in South America, in the Amazon underwater and the surrounding forests. The underwater sequences have been shot in the rivers Rio Solimoes and Rio Negro.
In the film, Shankar and his team battles jaguars, black caimans, anacondas, savage tribes, and gold diggers to hunt for the elusive golden city of El Dorado.
Amazon Obhijaan is an action-packed adventure films and has some of the most stunning visuals and sound effects, hitherto unseen in Bengali cinema.
A full-length trailer of the film will be released later this year.
