Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) lawmaker Sultan Ahmed died today morning in his home after suffering a massive cardiac arrest. He was elected to 15th Lok Sabha from the Ulubera constituency.
Chief minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee has expressed shock over Ahmed’s death.
The TMC MP also served as the state minister for tourism in Manmohan Singh’s government.
Ahmed was rushed to the Belle Vue Clinic. He was declared brought dead by the doctors. He was 64.
Sultan Ahmed, earlier, was a two-time MLA from Entally from 1987-19 and 1996-2001. He contested on a Congress ticket. He later joined TMC.
He was the president of the city-based Mohammedan Sporting Club.
